Space-age dining set by well-known Canadian designer Russell Spanner—rare collector item—Canadian Mid-Century Modern classic. The table top and chairs' seats look "floating." "A very exceptional design being a mix of Prouve and Eames".
Please also check the matching sideboard and coffee table.
The set was not in good shape, and it took us a few months to refinish it.
The table and chairs have been stripped, sanded, and stained walnut, and they look just like new. There are just minimal usage signs on the chairs' legs that could be seen on very close inspection.
Russell Spanner futuristic designs combined the sharp geometry of splayed and tapered legs and beveled wood edges with the organic look of natural surfaces, and the curved plywood chair backs recall the modernity of airplane wings.
Table L 59.5" x W 35.5" x H 29 7/8"; the middle butterfly leaf adds 18".
6 chairs were reupholstered in a luxurious orange wool mohair fabric. They are very comfortable.
