Defining pieces that make guests stop and stare

or sale is an exquisite and rare Danish Mid-Century Modern sideboard with a serious designer swank made of gorgeous Brazilian rosewood. Designed by Arne Hovmand-Olsen for Mogens Kold, model MK-511, this piece offers not only lots of storage but lots of visual delight that will last.

THE ROSEWOOD, QUALITY, AND WORKMANSHIP ARE OUTSTANDING.

The sideboard was in superb vintage condition, just faded, especially the front. We stripped, sanded and oiled multiply times with Danish oil, and unit looks like new again.

Constructed with Brazilian rosewood, this elegant and minimalistic design features intricate grain patterns throughout. This XL Credenza has 2 cabinets behind 4 hinged rosewood doors (adjustable shelves inside) and 3 large wooden dovetailed drawers that slide easily. The case sits on a geometric sled base.

L 94.5” x D 17" x H 28"

Please note, photos showing dark front are made after refinishing, light front show the piece before refinishing.

Hovmand-Olsen’s designs span seating, tables, and secretaries, all of which are characteristically simple in form with clean lines, organic curves, and tapered legs. Like many of his Danish contemporaries, he favored the use of high-quality, beautifully-grained woods like teak and rosewood. Notable designs include his Model 175 Chair (1955) and the Model 240 Lounge Chair for Mogens Kold (1958).

Hovmand-Olsen worked steadily designing furniture for companies such as Alf Juul Rasmussen, A. R. Klingenberg & Søn, Bramin, Elven Geertsen, J.L. Møller, Jutex, Mogens Kold Møbelfabrik, P. Mikklesen, Pedersen & Knap, and Skovmand & Andersen.

Remote buyer

How it works.

We source authentic mid-century pieces, check and fix any structural problems, strip with chemical stripper, sand with different grades, oil with Danish oil 5 times or more, waiting to dry and sanding each time. On average, it takes 10-14 days to finish the piece, but some might take even longer. Every piece undergoes rigorous quality checks before reaching your home. If reupholstery is required, it is done by one of a few professional upholsterers we work with.

Own the room, not just a chair

Stop settling for temporary furniture that lacks soul. Create a living space that feels cohesive, permanent, and entirely yours with iconic designs.

Questions, answered.

Yes. We provide detailed measurements, high-resolution photos & videos, and honest condition reports to ensure there are no surprises when your piece arrives. Do not hesitate to ask any questions prior to the purchase.

If the furniture is not what you expected, you can return it within 48 hours of purchase. If we are at fault, we will make it right. You will be refunded the cost of the piece less delivery cost and credit card fee of 4% (Shopify does not refund transaction fees if order is cancelled or refunded). Customized furniture is not returnable. The customer will be responsible for the returning the piece or cost of returning. The furniture is to be the same condition as it left our shop. If significant effort & time were required to prepare the shipment, a refund of up to 40% can be withheld to compensate.

Unlike quick-fix shops, we dismantle every loose joint and re-bond them with modern adhesives. This ensures a decade of structural stability.

We use period-correct donor wood to fix damaged veneer. These seamless repairs maintain the original grain flow for an invisible finish.
